The core problem was a regression challenge: given a set of urban planning and environmental features for a location — things like drainage capacity, soil type, elevation, land use, rainfall patterns, and so on (30+ input variables) — predict a flood risk score. The idea is that if city planners can quantify how risky a zone is before building there, they can make better decisions. Our team TensorTitans II manged to secured the 2nd runners-up in the final round of the hackathon.
